Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about keeping your pool balanced with Simple Pool.
Is Simple Pool free?
Simple Pool is free to download and use for core pool tracking and recommendations. Advanced features can be unlocked with a single one-time purchase that gives you lifetime access. No subscription, no recurring charges.
What kinds of pools does it support?
Chlorine, saltwater, and bromine pools. Simple Pool tracks free chlorine, pH, total alkalinity, calcium hardness, cyanuric acid, salt, water temperature, and overall water balance (CSI).
How do the dosing recommendations work?
Enter your test results and Simple Pool calculates exactly how much of each chemical to add, based on your pool’s volume and industry-standard water-balance guidelines. For the most accurate amounts, make sure your pool volume is set correctly.
Where is my data stored? Is it private?
Your data is stored on your device and synced privately through your own iCloud account. We can’t see or access it. See our privacy policy for details.
How do I sync between my iPhone, iPad, and Mac?
Sign in to iCloud with the same Apple ID on each device and make sure iCloud Drive is enabled. Your pools and tests sync automatically.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Testing, recommendations, and history all work without an internet connection. Only the optional weather-based advice and iCloud sync need to be online.
Why does it ask for my location?
Location is optional and used only to fetch local weather (via Apple WeatherKit) for weather-aware pool care advice, such as how UV, rain, and temperature affect your water. You can deny or revoke it any time, and the app still works.
How do I restore my purchase on a new device?
Open Settings inside Simple Pool and tap Restore Purchases, signed in with the same Apple ID you used to buy it. Your lifetime unlock will be restored at no extra charge.
How accurate are the recommendations?
Simple Pool gives well-established guidance to help you balance your water, but it isn’t a substitute for professional advice. Always handle and store pool chemicals safely per the manufacturer’s instructions, and re-test after adding chemicals.
