Simple Pool (the “App”) is developed by Grey Park Development (“we”, “us”). We built Simple Pool so your pool data stays yours. This policy explains what information the App handles and the limited third-party services it relies on.
The short version: Your pool details, test results, and photos live on your device and in your own private iCloud, and we can’t see them. We use Apple for payments and weather, RevenueCat to manage purchases, and Google Firebase for anonymous usage analytics. We don’t require an account, we don’t sell your data, and we don’t use it for advertising.
Your pool data (device & iCloud)
The information you enter (pool details, chemical test results and readings, dosing history, reminders, and any photos you attach) is stored locally on your device and synced through your personal iCloud account using Apple’s CloudKit. This data is controlled by you and your Apple ID. We have no access to it and cannot read it.
Usage analytics (Google Firebase)
We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how the App is used, such as which features are opened, general device and app information (like device model and OS version), and crash diagnostics. This helps us fix problems and improve the App. This analytics data is not used to personally identify you, is not sold, and is not used for third-party advertising. It is handled in accordance with Google’s Privacy Policy.
Purchases (Apple & RevenueCat)
Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive or store your payment or card details. We use RevenueCat to manage your purchase and unlock features across your devices; it receives transaction information and an app-generated anonymous identifier so your purchase stays in sync. This is handled under RevenueCat’s and Apple’s privacy policies.
Location & weather (Apple WeatherKit)
If you grant location access, the App uses your location to fetch local weather through Apple WeatherKit and provide weather-aware pool care advice (such as the impact of UV, rain, and temperature on your water). Your location is used on-device to request weather and is not stored on our servers or shared with advertisers. Location is optional, and you can deny or revoke it any time in your device Settings, and the App still works without it.
Photos & camera
You can attach photos of your pool or test results. These photos are stored on your device and in your iCloud, the same as the rest of your data. Camera and photo-library access is only used when you choose to add a photo.
What we don’t do
- No account or sign-up is required to use the App.
- We don’t sell your personal data.
- We don’t use your data for third-party advertising and don’t engage in cross-app tracking.
Data retention & deletion
Your pool data remains until you delete it. Removing a pool, test, or photo deletes it from your device and your iCloud. Deleting the App and removing its iCloud data removes your information. Aggregate analytics data is retained according to Google Firebase’s default retention settings.
Children’s privacy
Simple Pool is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “Last updated” date above.
